My Journey Can Be Your Journey

To LIVE LIFE WELL

We are on WEEK #13 of 2025

After Almost 3 Weeks on my own 100-Day Wellness Adventure Challenge

So, am I dying from deprivation? No. Am I moping around feeling like life is no longer fun? No. Am I questioning my sanity, like, why am I even doing this? No. Am I thinking, why did I think this was a good idea to let people know that I am doing this? And, no. Well, mostly not.

Because… I have a big WHY, and because I am very CURIOUS to see what might happen by sticking to a good health and fitness plan for 100 days. And those are key.

Already there have been some positive results. I actually would have been very disappointed, and even surprised, if there hadn’t been because I really think that the 100-Day plan will improve anyones health.

So…Results After 20 Days - The Good News

I am already 1/5 the way through 100 days! For new readers who have no clue as to what I am talking about, see this post.

  • Weight is down 3 pounds by pretty much eating 3 meals daily, only when hungry, and until I feel satisfied (and, um, sometimes a little more).

  • Fasting blood sugar levels are down a LOT. I am embarrassed but pleased to report that they have gone from 123 mg/dL to 99 mg/dL. I have a glucometer to measure this because I have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes and have a family history of diabetes. Anyway, I highly recommend getting one; here is one glucometer option. They are not that expensive, but depending on your insurance, you may be able to get one for free. So many people have blood sugars that are too high. It is good to catch and reverse this early. Check out this article I wrote awhile back on Diabetes & Prediabetes for more info.

  • Less GERD (acid reflux), much less.

  • Sugar and alcohol cravings, and hunger levels down significantly.

  • Sleeping better

  • Energy levels higher

  • Joint pain in thumbs and back - mostly gone

  • And a number of more improvements which I won’t go into at this time.

I even got through St. Patrick’s Day (Day 5) without caving in. I wrote in my journal that morning, “It would be nice to have a festive drink and a fun dessert today, but I won’t be derailed. I am highly motivated. And I commit to being cheerful about it.”
I stuck to plan and it wasn’t that bad. Our family used to enjoy a comical little book called, “I Got a Job and it wasn’t that bad”. So, of course we incorporate that amusing saying into our conversations occasionally.

Possible Derailments: Beware of and plan for them

Derailment = When something comes up, gets in the way, and you are tempted to just give up. Oxford Dictionary defines it as, “The obstruction of a process by diverting it from its intended course".

  • Events - holidays, vacations, birthdays, weddings, a night out at a restaurant or over to a friends house for dinner, a graduation. You name it!

  • Stress, bad news, challenging day.

  • Somebody offers you or gives you something delicious but it is not on your plan.

  • Feeling like there has been no progress anyway, so…what the heck.

These and more will threaten your commitment to stick to plan. As well as your hoped for results, unfortunately.

Now here’s a bad segue, but whatever ~

Warning: If you are in perfect health and at a perfect weight this plan is NOT for you.

Another warning that is more serious: We are not just a body. And we shouldn’t worship health or fitness. We all have a body, mind, and spirit; and all should be cared for.

I will close with this:

Todays Body Food rx: Eat only nutritious food for the rest of the day. No processed. Todays Mind Food rx: Remember that “Consistency carves canyons”. Dr. Sachin Patel Todays Spiritual Food rx: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped; therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him.” Psalm 28:7

Gonna keep on truckin’,
